NAZOV / TITLE :

Kink instability of partially ionized plasma jets in the solar atmosphere

ABSTRAKT / ABSTRACT :

Coronal heating problem is one of the most blazing topics in solar physics. It seems that for solving this
problem, different energy supplies are more or less equally important, and jets’ instabilities can be one
of such mechanisms. It is known that instabilities have an important contribution to the energy balance
as they serve as sources of dissipation/heating or momentum transport over different scales.
Correspondingly, they can accelerate energy transfer.

We study jets extending into the solar chromosphere, taking into account additional factors such as
partial ionization and non-alignment (between the jet and the magnetic field), in order to clarify their
effectiveness in increasing instability possibilities and growth rates. This, in turn, can help to better
explain the energy balance in the solar corona. For this purpose, we considered the magnetic slab model
and solved the set of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations for partially ionized plasma using linear
perturbation theory. The resulting dispersion equation is analyzed in different contexts.
